About me

Hi, I'm Jamie.

I'm a Computing Science graduate with a passion for building software, storytelling with data, learning new technologies, and solving technical problems through creativity.

My experience covers web development, software engineering, databases, data visualisation, and interactive applications. I've worked with technologies including Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL, React, and more recently Next.js, TypeScript, Three.js, and Blender through my personal projects.

I enjoy taking an idea from its early stages through to a working application, whether that means designing an interface, solving a programming problem, experimenting with 3D experiences, or learning an unfamiliar technology along the way.

Beyond the code

A little more about me.

Outside of technology, I like to thing of myself as somewhat of a contrarian. I'm drawn to the imaginative, the unusual, and the slightly macabre. From tabletop adventures and volunteering to Gothic literature, horror, and the fascinating world of invertebrates, I enjoy exploring interests that inspire curiosity , creativity, and community.

Stories, games & imagination

I'm a fan of Dungeons & Dragons and board games, especially the creativity, strategy, and shared storytelling that bring people together around a table. I enjoy the way games create little worlds of their own, where problem-solving and imagination go hand in hand.

Community & volunteering

I volunteer weekly at Dundee Central Library, giving me an opportunity to contribute to my local community and spend time in a place that celebrates knowledge, learning, and a love of books.

How I work

Collaborative problem solving

I've worked in Agile and Scrum environments and enjoy collaborating with others to solve technical problems. I value clear communication, organisation, and being able to explain technical ideas in an understandable way.

What's next

Always learning

I'm continuing to develop my software engineering skills by building projects, experimenting with new technologies, and applying what I've learned to practical problems.
